Six Lines

Ignoring the red

We painted ours

Over a grey canvas

Tales we lived together

Managing between schedules,

Our cat and dog stories

And the firsts we shared

And those telepathic connections

To finish each other’s pick up lines

Keeping our minds open

And our hearts locked

With the keys in the Seine

Finding their way back to us.

And when asked

We would say

That colors fade

Unlike the grey shades

Then, people would know

Shaking their heads

They would walk away

Smiling, defeated

And we would look at each other

Holding hands

Sometimes, six lines

Work just as fine

For our little grey hearts.
