Territories

Seated in the courtroom

I reminisce

The day we tied the knot

Later, you said welcome home

Our home.

Where there wasn’t your or my side of the bed

Or things labelled with different names.

It is all ours.

That’s what you said.

And then, there is today…

Distinctly marking out territories

Like animals in the wild…

Your books

My CDs

Your kid

My house

Your gold

My land

Dealing.

But honey,

Who gets the memories

And the heartache after the divorce?
