Walking home from school

We talked about our lessons

You from your gurukul

And I from my madarsa

How everything we learnt

About us

About God.

And about man

Was same

With different names

And different teachers

And different books

And different schools.

But kids we were,

Hardly aware

When our men killed yours

And your men killed ours

Massacring lives

Under something

They called religion.

And even today

Unable to understand

Why they did that

Even though we all learnt the same lessons.
