The Writer’s Getaway

You see people take a vacation

Go on a holiday

To Bahamas, Paris or Bali

You have tried it,

And realised it doesn’t work for you.
You see people set out on road

In search of themselves

On the winding streets in Spain

You have tried it,

And realised it doesn’t work for you.
You see people gourmandise

Nourishing their souls

Along with their bellies

You have tried it,

And realised it doesn’t work for you.
You see people visit ashrams

Devote themselves to the guru

And make peace with their inner demons

You have tried it,

And realised it doesn’t work for you.
And then one fine day

You sit down

With a parchment and a quill,

Or a pen and paper,

Or with your laptop,

Feeling lost in your words.

Traversing though your sentiments.

Feeding on the ink and keystrokes.

Finally finding your own guru.

For you are a writer,

And it always works for you.
